The Carthage High School cheerleading team will head to Fort Worth to compete at the UIL Spirit Contest at the end of this week.
"We are so excited to be going into UIL state competition," said Tina Marion, CHS cheerleading coach. "During football season we use our class time and practices to prepare for pep rallies and games. That means the team has to come in on Saturdays to work on our UIL state routine. This team has worked so hard to learn and perfect the material and we are ready to get to Ft. Worth to prove it."
The cheerleading team will be hosting a show-off on Thursday, January 13th at 8:30 am in the CHS gym. Please join us in wishing them luck and rooting for their success.
"On Friday, we will be going against fifty other 4A D2 schools in Band Chant, Cheer, and Fight song," continued Mrs. Marion. "These sections are all scored separately. Then they will have the top twenty teams move on to finals. In finals, we will have three minutes to put all three of those routines together, as well as add in a situational cheer and transitions into each section."
Bulldog fans will be able to watch them compete throughout the day on Friday through the NFHS Network.
