This weekend Carthage High School had two students compete in the All-Area Choir contest. Chandler Glaze, a CHS Senior, ended the weekend as the second chair All-State choir member.
"I started choir in the 8th grade," stated Chandler. "I wouldn't be where I am today without Mr. Corley and the help that he's given me the past five years. I'm so blessed and so thankful to have had him as a mentor and teacher."
In February, Chandler will get to sing with her fellow members of the All-State Choir in San Antonio. This concert will feature the best singers from high schools across the state.
"This is an incredible accomplishment," Mr. Corley explained. "This is her second year in a row to make the All-State Choir. Of course, many try all four years to achieve this honor and never make it. Thousands begin the process across the state in August; only 122 are selected into the All-State Choir."
Chandler is quick to praise the CHS Choir program and to encourage anyone who is interested to give it a try.
"I've known people who feel like they don't have the courage to go out and try choir," Chandler continued. "After they joined, it turns out they had fun and enjoyed their time there. There is a camaraderie in choir and it feels like family. Of course you learn a lot, but it's the family that makes choir so special to me."
