Carthage High School has announced its 2023 homecoming court. Members of the court are:
Michelle Campos
Homecoming Duchess Campos is the daughter of Rosalio and Maria Campos and the granddaughter of the late Reyes Campos and Alberta Campos. Michelle is a member of varsity cheer, Key Club, UIL academics and the National Honor Society. Her high school honors include Class Favorite, All-American Cheerleader, All-American Nominee, JV cheer captain and National Honor Society leadership officer. Michelle has participated in community service projects such as the Outreach Program, Kiddie Kamp, Special Field Day, Potlatch, Science Camp, Mission Carthage, Celebrating the Spirit of Carthage Community Wide Food Drive and cleaning the Bulldog Stadium. Michelle’s future plans are to continue her education in a four-year university and pursue a career in dental hygiene. Her most memorable moment in high school is winning the state championship game her freshman year.
Michelle’s escort is Charlie Barber.
Barber is the son of Tate and Kathryn Barber. His grandparents are Jim Brummett, Connie Seegmiller and Harold and Annetter Barber. Charlie is involved in football, basketball, golf, academic UIL and National Honor Society. Charlie’s honors include Class President his freshman and sophomore year, NHS Parliamentarian and Class Favorite his freshman year. He has participated in community service projects including the Back to School Bash, Celebrating the Spirit of Carthage Community Wide Food Drive, Special Field Day and CASA Trunk or Treat. His future plans are to become a business finance major. Charlie’s most memorable moment in high school is winning second place in district in golf.
Kendall Fant
Homecoming Duchess Kendall Fant is the daughter of Craig and Kelley. Her grandparents are the late Ivan Nedeau and Lillian Nedeau and Malcolm and Susan Murray. Kendall is involved in cross country, track and is a student trainer for football. She is also the historian for National Honor Society, in theater, Key Club and UIL academics. Her honors include College Board National Recognition and UIL State Honor Crew and Top 10 Percent of her class. She has participated in community service projects such as Celebrating the Spirit of Carthage Community Wide Food Drive, the Outreach Program and Mission Carthage. Her future plans are to attend Texas Tech University and to pursue a career in sports management and public relations. Her most memorable moment is going to regional cross country and winning a state championship in football her junior year.
Kendall’s escort is Cody Pyle.
Pyle is the son of the late Vince Pyle and Carl and Annette Harris. His grandparents are (the late) Celia Pyle and David Pyle. He has been a TSA Officer for two years, lettered in soccer and football his sophomore year. His honors also include All-District, Academic All-State in soccer and All-District Honorable Mention in football. Cody has participated in community service projects including volunteering at Central Baptist Church, Mission Carthage, Coaching for City League Soccer and working in the press box. His future plans are to play football in college, where he will pursue a degree in history education and become a coach or sports communications.
Ca’Miya Gates
Homecoming Duchess Ca’Miya Gates is the daughter of Raffeal Gates and Fredrica Castleberry. Her grandparents are Freddie and Rachel Castleberry, Vanessa Castleberry, and Winford and Janice Gates. Ca’Miya is a four-year member of the Lady Dawgs Basketball team, a three-year member of the Lady Dawgs Volleyball team and participates in track, cross country and high school cheer. Her honors include sophomore and junior Honorable Mention All-District, junior Academic All-District, Key Club, sophomore All-American nominee. Her community service projects include King’s Cabinet at her church, handing out food boxes every third Wednesday; Carthage Clean-Up, Celebrating the Spirit of Carthage Community Wide Food Drive, and Act of Service in the community. Ca’Miya plans to attend a four-year university then go to nursing school to become a pediatric nurse. Her most memorable moment was when she did not make cheerleader freshman year but tried out again sophomore year and made the team.
Ca’Miya’s escort is Tedric Pipkins.
Pipkins’ parents are the late Michael C. Kato and Tondra Pipkins. His grandparents are LeVearn and JoAnn Rhodes of Carthage and Lonnie C. Kato of Shreveport. He is involved in football and basketball. His honors include the 2022 and 2023 state football championship and first team defensive CB. His community service projects include attending church services, spending time with family and friends, and helping the elderly. His future plans are to attend college, play football and achieve his goals. Tedric’s most memorable moment is starting his first job.
Brynna Hill
Homecoming Duchess Brynna Hill’s grandparent is Lessie Hughes. Brynna is involved in soccer, varsity cheer, National Honor Society, Key Club and academic UIL. Her honors include Co-New Comer of the Year in soccer and All-American Nominee, Academic All-District and Most Dependent Award in cheer. Her community service projects include Carthage Clean-Up and the Celebrating the Spirit of Carthage Community Wide Canned Food Drive. Her future plans are to attend a four year university, attend medical school and earn a medical doctorate in the field of dermatology. Her most memorable moment is winning the state championship football game and when her soccer team beat Henderson.
Brynna’s escort is Brenden Hill.
Hill’s grandparent is Lessie Hughes. He participates in football. His future plans are to attend a technical college, where he can major in the oil and gas field. His most memorable moment was when he sacked the quarterback at the state game at Cowboy Stadium.
Sophie Socia
Homecoming Duchess Sophie Socia is the daughter of Rodney and Brandy Socia. Her grandparents are Faye Socia and the late Jimmy Socia and Jinnifer Whitaker Chandler and the late L. H. Chandler. Sophie is involved in CHS varsity cheer, the National Honor Society and Legacy Athletics cheer. Her honors include All-American Cheer nominee, varsity cheer captain, National Honor Society, Top 20 Percent and nominated for Class Favorite. Her community service projects include Special Field Day, Celebrating the Spirit of Carthage Community Wide Food Drive, Mini Cheer Camp, Bulldog Stadium Cleanup, Outreach Program, Carthage Clean-Up, and participating in the 9/11 Memorial Walk. Her future plans are to attend Stephen F. Austin State University in fall 2024 to pursue a degree in interior design. Her most memorable moment is cheering and winning at the state championship football game freshman and junior year.
Sophie’s escort is Cole Nations.
Cole is the son of Chad and Emily Nations. His grandparents are Steve Nations, Brenda Holland and Robby and Pamella Parker. He is involved in football, track and Key Club. His honors include state championship football, Top 20 Percent and All-District Honorable Mention. His community service projects include Carthage Clean-Up. His future plans are to attend Texas A&M and major in engineering. His most memorable moment is playing in the state championship football game.
Jaquelyn Travis
Homecoming Duchesss Jaquelyn Travis is the daughter of Rachel and Chad Smith and Chris Travis. Her grandparents are Patricia and Don Smith and Ginnie and Bob Travis. Her extracurricular activities include cheer, National Honor Society and UIL journalism. Jaquelyn is in the top five percent of her class. She also serves as a National Honor Society Officer and was a UIL regional qualifier in Journalism. She has earned over 200 service hours at Outreach, Mission Carthage, Celebrating the Spirit of Carthage Community Wide Food Drive, the Keith Steptoe Memorial Golf Tournament and mini cheer camp. Jaquelyn plans to pursue a business degree at Arkansas or Texas A&M University. Her most memorable moment at CHS is cheering on the sidelines with the people she loves the most.
Jaquelyn’s escort is Ky’Darious “KD” Matlock.
Matlock is the son of Lucille Marshall. He has been on the varsity football and track teams all four years of high school. He was a 2023 regional qualifier in the 4x1. He enjoys helping with football camp and plans to play football in college, where he will pursue a degree in welding. His most memorable moment is being a part of a state title winning team. To him, it’s one of the best feelings out there!
