Carthage High School student organizations are hosting the second annual Celebrating the Spirit of Carthage Food Drive on Thursday, March 23. The event aims to collect non-perishable food items and essential household items to benefit local food banks and organizations. This yearās goal is to collect 10,000 items and itās a great way for CHS organizations such as National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America, Technology Student Association,Key Club, Bulldog Belles, Battlinā Bulldog Band, Cheer, CHS-TV and Student Council to join together to benefit the Carthage community.
From 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Carthage High School will be accepting donations of items such as peanut butter, boxed macaroni and cheese, beans, spaghetti noodles, spaghetti sauce, canned goods, fruit snacks, granola bars, condensed milk, rice, cereal, diapers, baby wipes, oatmeal, jelly, instant potatoes, powdered baby formula, pancake mix, syrup, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and more.
To kick off the event, a morning celebration will be held from 8 to 8:30 a.m. featuring performances by CHS student groups such as the Bulldog Belles and the CHS Cheer team to celebrate the spirit of kindness and generosity in the Carthage community.
At 3 p.m., all donations will be delivered to Mission Carthage, St. William Catholic Church Outreach program and Kingās Cabinet. These organizations work tirelessly to provide essential resources and support to those in need in Panola County.
Donations are accepted now until March 23 at a variety of businesses and organizations around Carthage, including the Panola County Courthouse, Tate Barber State Farm, A&E Dining, Mark Brown Rollo Insurance, Monroe Brothers Paint and Body, Panola County Chamber of Commerce, and any Carthage ISD campus during normal business hours.
Last year's food drive was a huge success, and the Carthage High School students are excited to continue the tradition of giving back to the community. The event provides an excellent opportunity for students, faculty, and community members to come together and support those in need.
